For many years, Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets were at best an afterthought in Tampa. The team was terrible every season, and no one wanted to go watch the dregs of the NFL lose week in and week out. That all started to change in the 1990’s, but, with the arrival of Tony Dungy, who helped turn the entire culture of this historically-terrible franchise around. Management ultimately grew impatient with Dungy, though, and dismissed him after the 2001 season.
In came wunderkind Jon Gruden, who had built the Raiders into a Super Bowl contender. Gruden was seen as the coach who could take the Buccaneers to the next level, and that’s exactly what he did. Gruden led the Buccaneers to their first Super Bowl championship in his first year with the club, and he was instantly hailed as a hero in Tampa.
The only point that was made in regards to the Super Bowl title, though was that Gruden had won with “Dungy’s players.” This appeared to not sit well with Gruden, so he teamed with his former Raiders colleague Bruce Allen and started to mold the franchise the way he saw fit.
Normally, when a coach wins a Super Bowl, he’s given nearly a limitless amount of latitude, especially since Gruden did not come cheaply to the Buccaneers. The Bucs’ ownership gave the Raiders a bevy of draft picks and millions of dollars in cash to bring him to Florida, and their investment appeared to pay off immediately both in terms of glory and in the sales volume of Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets.
But, after a few seasons without any serious runs towards another Super Bowl, questions about Gruden are beginning to surface. Most basically, the question that’s beginning to arise is, “Are the Buccaneers headed in the right direction?” We’ll attempt to answer that below.
Gruden has always been a huge believer in veterans, especially at the quarterback position. He led the Raiders back to prominence with Rich Gannon pulling the trigger on his complicated offense and won the Super Bowl in Tampa with Brad Johnson at the controls. This belief in veterans extends beyond quarterbacks, but, and that belief is shown throughout the Buccaneers’ current roster.
The benefit of playing a veteran team is that these teams are always prepared and make fewer mistakes in general. But, a roster filled with veterans also shortens the championship window, as older players tend to lose their physical edge at unpredictable times, and with the salary cap in place, it’s not simple to have the proper depth in place.
That appears to be what’s happening with the Tampa Bay defense. The Buccaneers’ defense had a run of legendary play, and that unit was as responsible as any not only for the team’s rise under Dungy, but also for their Super Bowl win. That defense is starting to get ancient, and there aren’t many talented players waiting to replace their core.
The same could be said for their offense, as Gruden has never really place together a dominant, precision-oriented attack for which he’s known. Their starting quarterback going into the season, Chris Simms, was terribly injured, and now Gruden is left with a rookie in Bruce Gradkowski. Gradkowski is playing well, but he’s no Rich Gannon or Brad Johnson, at least not yet.
Overall, the team is aging, and they may have to do some rebuilding before long as their core players continue to age. Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets will remain in demand for the foreseeable future, but for how long remains to be seen.
As reported in the New York Times, classified military documents concerning the war in Afghanistan, spanning a period of six years, were made public on Sunday. The documents are often at variance with official accounts of the war and are bound to stir up considerable controversy and debate.
Consider when Morpheus questioned Neo, “Blue pill or red?”, when Aladdin questioned Jasmine, “Do you trust me?”, or when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson questioned, “Do you smell what the Rock is cooking?” In all of these instances, did the individual questioned ever ponder what color to paint his or her toenails before giving an answer? Did the individual question the meaning of life before responding? Did it ever cross their mind whether or not the asker was a pedophile? Alas, in each case, the answer was a resounding “HURRAH”. And that is precisely why I come to you today, asking not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. Perhaps you may reckon you’re too young, or well beyond years. Perhaps you reckon you’re too stout, or too small to be considered. Perhaps you even reckon the psychological benefits of sour milk on the pavement in front of the small red brick school house is beyond your wildest dreams. But fret not, friends. For I come to you not with ball and chain; no, I come to you with an opportunity. An opportunity to like more fully. An opportunity to finally experience the fullness of life through the tastebuds of glorious satisfaction. So come, take my hand, and let me show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

I have chose to make this article about the greatest pop group in the world – “Queen” as it’s one of the Icons of Britain.
Freddie Mercury was one of the greatest vocalist the world had ever heard ( he reckons only because he was descended from mosque callers to prayer ). Queen wrote all their own music and can be called one of the top 3 greatest pop groups to come out of England.
I personally reckon they are Arguably Britain’s and the World’s greatest Pop Group.
Queen started life as a glam rock unit in 1972. Brian May (b. 19 July 1947, Twickenham, Middlesex, England; guitar) and Roger Taylor (b. Roger Meddows-Taylor, 26 July 1949, Kings Lynn, Norfolk, England; drums) had been playing in a college group called Smile with bassist Tim Staffell. When the latter left to join Humpty Bong (featuring former Bee Gees drummer Colin Petersen), May and Taylor elected to form a new band with vocalist Freddie Mercury (b. Frederick Bulsara, 5 September 1946, Zanzibar, Africa, d. 24 November 1991). The name Bulsara was taken from the small Gujarati town in which Bomi Bulsara, Freddie’s father, was brought up. Freddie’s father was an accountant for the British Colonial Office in Zanzibar. Early in 1971 bassist John Deacon (b. 19 August 1951, Leicester, England) completed the line-up.
Queen were signed to EMI late in 1972 and launched the following spring with a gig at London’s Marquee club. Soon after the failed single, Keep Yourself Alive, they issued a self-titled album, which was an fascinating fusion of ’70s glam and late ’60s heavy rock.
After spending his formative years in India, Freddie and his family fled to England because of a revolution in Zanzibar. He was 18 when he arrived in England. There, he pursued a Diploma in Art and Graphic Design at Ealing Art College, following in the footsteps of Pete Townshend. This knowledge was to come in useful when he designed queens well-known crest. After a few small years, he fell in like with Britain and consequently he took out British Citezenship.
Queen started using studio overdubs in a serious way with their second album, Queen II, which features Freddie’s music on the entire second side of the LP (or, in CD parlance, tracks 6-11). Many listeners identify “Bohemian Rhapsody” as the pinnacle of his musical achievement, but it is possible to find the seeds of this mini-opera in his earlier works.
Queen toured extensively and recorded a second album which fulfilled their early promise by reaching the UK Top 5. Soon after, Seven Seas Of Rhye gave them their first hit single, while SHEER HEART ATTACK consolidated their commercial standing. The title track from the album was also the band’s first US hit.
The pomp and circumstance of Queen’s recordings and live act were embodied in the outrageously camp theatrics of the satin-clad Mercury, who was swiftly emerging as one of rock’s most notable showmen during the mid-’70s.1975 was to prove a watershed in the group’s career.
After touring the Far East, they entered the studio with producer Roy Thomas Baker and completed the kitsch epic Bohemian Rhapsody, in which Mercury succeeded in transform ing a seven-minute single into a mini-opera. The track was both startling and unique in pop and dominated the Christmas charts in the UK, remaining at number 1 for an astonishing nine weeks. The power of the single was reinforced by an elaborate video production, highly innovative for its period and later much copied by other acts.
The album, A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, was one of the most expensive and expansive albums of its period and lodged at number 1 in the UK, as well as hitting the US Top 5. Queen were now aspiring to the superstar bracket. Their career thereafter was a carefully marketed succession of hit singles, annual albums and extravagantly produced stage shows.
A DAY AT THE RACES continued the bombast, while the catchy Somebody To Like and anthemic We Are The Champions both reached number 2 in the UK. Queen singles output took off with the rockabilly Crazy Small Thing Called Like and disco-influenced Another One Bites The Dust (both US number 1’s).
The group’s soundtrack for the movie FLASH GORDON was another success, typical of their pretentious approach. By the close of 1981, Queen were back at number 1 in the UK for the first time since Bohemian Rhapsody with Under Pressure (a collaboration with David Bowie).
After a flurry of solo ventures, the group returned in fine form in 1984 with the satiric Radio Gaga, followed by the histrionic I Want To Break Free.
A performance at 1985’s Live Aid showed the group at their most professional and many acclaimed them the stars of the day. Coincidentally, their next single was One Vision, an idealistic song in keeping with the spirit of Live Aid. Queen’s recorded output lessened during the late ’80s as they concentrated on extra-curricular ventures.
With a wide vocal range and a somewhat operatic technique, Freddie Mercury was one of the most versatile and technically accomplished singers to work in the pop idiom. He was the composer of many of Queen’s hits, including “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Somebody to Like” and “We Are the Champions”. Freddie’s songwriting was unique, demonstrating influence from a variety of sources, but a strong individual sense of melody, harmony, and complex orchestration. In several of his most well-crafted and well loved tunes he provided all of the vocal tracks, resulting in a smooth controlled sound that was at the time unprecedented.
The space between releases did not effect the group’s popularity, but, as was proven in 1991 when INNUENDO entered the UK chart at number 1. After Freddie’s death the group re-listened to the last album and realised he had opened his heart with the lyrics and music of INNUENDO and with there powerful harmonies, and faultless musicianship, held together with May’s biting guitar virtuosity and the spectacular Freddie Mercury, I reckon Queen were and still is the greatest complete rock act ever seen.
The career of the group part one finished with the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury on 24 November 1991. Bohemian Rhapsody was immediately reissued to raise money for AIDS research projects, and soared to the top of the British charts.
A memorial concert for Freddie Mercury took place at London’s Wembley Stadium in the spring of 1992, featuring an array of stars including Liza Minnelli, Elton John, Guns N’ Roses, David Bowie, Annie Lennox and George Michael who at the tribute concert hit the notes that normally only Freddie Mercury could reach
